Vanguard Gallery
 　 Initiated in the beginning of 2004, VG has established itself as a gallery that devotes to find and support the work of the innovative younger artists. Since its establishment, VG has made consistent and concerted effort to provide a platform to the artists giving free rein to their creativity. Through launching various exhibitions with different artists, we have built a sound reputation with our professional attitude and excellent quality, gaining more and more attentions from home and abroad.

Artists
 　 The artists’ works exhibited in Vanguard Gallery are specialized in various media ranging from painting, installation, sculpture, video, prints, photography, animation and performance etc.
     Vanguard Gallery puts a great emphasize on the extensive collaborations with the young artists. We endeavor to recommend them by organizing various exhibitions as well as to support them to create art. The common feature of these artists is that they are all cultivate, dynamic artists who have great potential in art, bearing precise attitude and spirit of creation.

Space
 　 Vanguard Gallery was initially located in Bldg.21, 50 Moganshan Rd. In April of 2008, Vanguard Gallery moved to Bldg.4, 50 Moganshan Rd housing a 170- square- meter space.

Exhibitions and Communications
 　 Vanguard Gallery launches various exhibitions randomly including painting, installation, prints, video etc, which has laid a good foundation for us in the art field. We are also engaged in some large-scale art exhibitions and art activities collaborating extensively with other large space in Shanghai. In 2006, Vanguard Gallery and other several curators co-organized the contemporary art and design exhibition “Satellite”, which turned out to be a complete success with the participation of 50 artists from home and abroad. In 2007 invited by Shanghai eArts Festival, Vanguard Gallery successfully held the new media art exhibition “Walk or Fly”, which won enormous focus.
 　 Since its inauguration, Vanguard Gallery has built long-term partnership with other galleries and art institutions from home and abroad. We have given our contribution to recommend the young artists.
     In 2008, we started to establish an exhibition project “Gas Station” as our attempt to co-operate with more young artists. We provide every amenity to young artists for their communication in art and as a result, we maintain a close partnership with them.
 　 Furthermore, the gallery has a feature exhibition: exhibition of design. At the end of 2005, we cordially invited our partners to establish an exhibition project “Outlook”. This project aims to provide a platform for the independent Chinese designers to exhibit and communicate. We had the second successful exhibition of Outlook in the summer of 2007 in Shenzhen. On this basis, Vanguard Gallery maintains a good relationship with many young Chinese designers. The project has attracted more and more designers and artists and we also have build long-term partnership with national and international design constitutions. In 2006 and 2007, through the co-operation with German design organization, we curated the project “What Makes Shanghai Addictive?”, “What Makes Berlin Addictive?” as our concerted effort to promote Chinese young artists.
