Vanguard Gallery is honored to announce that artists Hu Jiayi and Joy Li have been selected as winners of the 2024-2025 Porsche “Young Chinese Artist of the Year” Award. Their works will be featured in the Porsche “Young Chinese Artist of the Year” Winners’ Exhibition at the 2025 ART021 Shanghai Contemporary Art Fair from November 13 to 16, 2025.
Hu Jiayi is a conceptual artist who mainly creates performance art, video, picture photography, installation, and painting. Her practice delves deeply into the intricaciesof personal experience and the environments she encounters. Utilising an array of mediums, including video, performance, painting, installation, and sculpture, she constructs narratives that intertwine metaphor, intimacy, and alienation through the lens of the physical body.
Joy Li’s works include sculpture, performance art, theater, video, and music, exploring the tension of interactions between objects, emotions, and relationships. In her works, she reinterprets objects and bodies to magnify the allure and danger inherent in everyday items, allowing the audience to re-experience and interact familiar things in unfamiliar ways.
